Julia Wade And Friends – Part 9: Heaven in His Eyes
One of my favorite things I do in life is my teaching work with Watchfire Music University. I teach a variety of private one on one music courses on line to students all over the world. I look forward every day to these classes, usually late afternoon/early evening six days a week.
One of my long-time students, Dora Redman, has developed into a fine lyricist, has now been published, and her work can be found on the Watchfire Music site. Several years ago we did an EP Album together – Dora writing the lyrics and I writing the music called Miracle Of Faith, a very popular album with our followers.
Of late, Dora has written many songs about the birth of Jesus and also her deep interest in angels.
I played the song Heaven In His Eyes for Julia back in June and she fell in love with it and it was one of the first we picked for the album. In this day and age, it was easy to cast one of the wise men as a woman and make her a “wise one.”
In it, Dora imagines one of the wise one’s journey following the star to Bethlehem seeking to find a greater sense of Heaven.
As she comes up over the hill knowing that she has finally reached the birth place, she envisions an elegant castle or certainly a place infinitely more upscale than what she finds. Much to her surprise she sees the star shining down upon … well, you know the story from here.

The star hovered above a stable
And the light from the star lit up the space
I just stood there at a distance
Above this meek and lowly place
This wasn’t what I expected to find
And I wondered why the savior of mankind
Would come to us in this humble way
Just lying there on a mere bed of hay
But I saw Heaven in his eyes
It’s not a distant place way up in the skies
Above the moon and stars
With pearly gates and streets of gold
And all the other wondrous things that I’ve been told
But much to my surprise
I found that Heaven is within
It’s a home inside my heart where I’ve always been
And I carry it with me
Yes I carry it with me everywhere I go
Yes I found Heaven
When I saw Heaven in his eyes
So I stood there right there before the manger
Only stillness and calm could be found
Even though I’m called a wise one
I was too moved to voice a sound
Anticipation led me right to my knees
And the sweetest of moments
Filled me with such ease
And lifted my perception so I could see
When the Christ child in delight looked at me
Then I saw Heaven in his eyes
It’s not a distant place way up in the skies
Above the moon and stars
With pearly gates and streets of gold
And all the other wondrous things that I’ve been told
But much to my surprise
I found that Heaven is within
It’s a home inside my heart where I’ve always been
And I carry it
Yes I carry it with me everywhere I go
Yes I found Heaven
When I saw Heaven in his eyes
Then I saw Heaven in his eyes
