Songs of Renewal

Easter approacheth. That usually means Spring. That definitely means rejuvenation. Sum total: renewal of heart, mind and life.

Easter brings hope. At its base is the hope and proof of life eternal. For those of us who love this life even with all its struggles (and that’s probably 99.99% of the folks on the planet) the hope of life eternal is very real. It’s built into our struggle to survive, a baby’s first cry and breath, an old man’s lingering death rattle just before passing on.

Every night we go to bed expecting to be better in the morning. Every morning we wake up with the expectation of a new day and what that portends. Every day is a day of renewal.

Some religions speak of being reborn. This is an act of great beauty, majesty and change. It is a monumental life moment. Other religions speak of reincarnation – the chance to start again on this planet – the chance for renewal.

Songwriters speak and sing of this rejuvenation consistently in their music. It is one of the great themes in life.

This month Watchfire Music brings you from its WFM Collection our new April spring and Easter offering, Songs Of Renewal – a 12 song compilation CD of songs from some of our best artists all on the subject of renewal.

This one was especially fun for me to put together. First of all, there were so many great songs to choose from and the whittling down from about 30 to 12 was the only regrettable part of the process. Far too many great songs had to be cut.  But then there’s always next year.

What made the final cut were 12 songs that really form two halves of a beautiful concept CD. The first half is really about the various and multifarious facets of renewal that we experience in our lives every day – the  first buds of spring, the dawning of a new day, the simple things in life that signal renewal of the spirit within us, the international complexities of change and how they renew the world, the renewal of soul within each of us and finally the gratitude for this wonderful world around us and the daily result of that gratitude. All of this, believe it or not, is contained in this opening 30 minutes of 6 great songs.

The second half of the CD we might call our Easter Suite. Led by our own Director of Digital Sheet Music and one of our best selling artists, Julia Wade, we take you on a musical ride through one of the greatest stories ever told – the drama of Easter.

Here you can once again relive the last days on earth of this most amazing human being and also experience the exhilaration and hope of his resurrection through music. We’ve even given you a long moment for your own quiet contemplation of your own immortality as part of the listening and story process.

In short, it’s really two CDs in one. Perhaps you might think I’m promising a lot here, but strap on your headphones, sit back in your favorite chair and give the CD a listen. We absolutely guarantee that this CD will plant in you the spirit of renewal.

Will you feel renewed, refreshed, rejuvenated, reborn – reinvented? You bet!

Give it a listen.  It’s due to hit the site and be available April 1.  And that’s no joke.
