Turn Around Time

Turn Around Time
We’re going to be all right. I can feel it in the air. The air is still not the normal air of security because we’re still in the woods, but it’s a good clean air of promise and hope.

We’re turning it around. Not only the economy, but the plight of nature, the sad problem of national obesity and even the wreck of the music business. I’ve always heard that the first step of healing is to recognize the problem. If that is so, and my many experiences with healings do prove that out, then we, as a nation, are beginning to turn it around.

It’s a turnaround time.

And what is it that we’re turning around from? It’s simple really. Look at the four major problems above and one concept, one word jumps off the page. Greed. Good ol’ American greed.

All four issues – the economy, the destruction of nature, obesity and the tanking of the music business – all exist because of the penchant of the people of our nation to want and expect more than our share, more than what we worked for.

I believe that the problems with the economy started, not on Wall Street, but with each of us individually and our runaway mishandling of the credit card.

As an emergency back-up in our lives, they’re great, but we have abused debt and placed ourselves in impossible circumstances because we want all the goodies now.

I believe that this recession and almost depression was caused by a national misconception of the concept that, “If George has it, then I must have it, whether I earned it or not. Since I don’t have the money for it, I’ll just put it on my credit card and hope I can pay it later.”

This greed has now come up and slapped us across the face. Wall Street greed was just a massive extension of our individual greed. We’re learning the hard way, but we’re learning. Spend what you have, not what you hope to have. Save for a rainy day. Two sentences that are the answer to the problems of the economy. Simplistic, perhaps, but from simple minds come simple answers.

In the case of nature’s destruction, again, greed is the cause. We want water now, so we just take it, whether there’s enough of it to go around or not. Our industries want more money, so they pollute the air, caring not for those around them nor for the future, but only thinking of themselves.  Greed.

Now the rest of us have begun to get in their faces and say, “Enough!” Now there is a public consciousness called “Green” instead of “Greed.” The difference of one letter “d.” But it’s a conscious difference that will change and rebalance our world.

What can be more obvious than obesity? We’re simply too fat! Why? Thousands of excuses are given, but there’s only one that is at the root.  Simply put, there’s more goin’ in that is goin’ out. That means somethin’s got to give – and so we expand and expand… and expand.

I just lost 25 pounds. For the first time in my life, I got fat. I had a raft of excuses for you, but truth is, when I woke up to the fact that more was goin’ in than was comin’ out, I reduced what was goin’ in and re-found my balance – the balance of my greed. I’m not as greedy as I used to be and again, simply put, I look it.

This national problem now has awareness. If that awareness can be heightened, if the roots can be pulled up and out, we can find our balance as human beings so that our bodies do not reflect our greedy little minds. Diet is only half the panacea. What needs to be healed is the greed, then the body will reflect properly the state of mind.

And lastly, for tonight, the music business. Possibly the worst of them all. This was a business that needed to fail and fail it did. In my 30 some years in this rancid business I had become disgusted with the blatant greed of the record companies. Their mistreatment of their own artists has become legendary and the artists, innocents that we are, were not much help.

Greed was the watchword of the system. Greed was God. When that happens, failure is immanent. It’s the way things work. It’s one of our great truths. The music business became not about music, but about greed.

The majors (major labels) are still holding on, but are sliding down a muddy slope to their inglorious end. And it’s a good thing.  It’s the obvious failure of greed to succeed.

This is why we founded Watchfire Music. To completely change the way in which things are done, the way the artists are treated, the way the public perceives.  We founded this company on the principles of music and not what we can make from it, but what we can give to the world.

Music is inspirational. The world needs inspiration to solve these problems. We need to be inspired to heal. In order to heal, once again, we need to first recognize the problem. In these four issues the problem is greed. Heal the greed; you heal the problem.

I take this moment to point squarely to the problems at hand, to identify the errors of our ways. Now let’s turn it around. It’s a turnaround time.

TURN AROUND TIME
Music and Lyrics by Peter Link

Oh
Oh time to turn it around
It’s a turn around time
Oh time to turn it around
It’s a turn around time

Feel it comin’
Yes it’s comin’
Feel it comin’
Yes it’s comin’ now

Now that the time is turning
Oh now that the passion’s burning
Oh now’s when the new beginning begins again

Feel it comin’ comin’ on

Now that we’re all through clappin’
It’s time to make things happen
Now is the time when we can win again

Back to the mountain top
Gonna get back
Back to that special feeling
Back to the place where we call home
Look out world we’re comin’ back
Time to turn it around
It’s a turn around time
Oh time to turn it around
It’s a turn around time

Gonna turn it around
Gonna step right up
An’ we’re comin’ on strong
Gonna cut it clear cut
On the cutting edge
Yeah the feeling is great
When we get back home
Gonna celebrate

Yes it all comes down
To a single stroke
Gonna rock it on out
Cause we’re goin’ for broke
Give it all you got
Gonna climb up higher
Yeah we’re gonna get hot
Cause the sky’s on fire

It’s a time to turn it around
Time again to turn it around
Turn around it’s time we turn
It’s a turn around time

It’s a time to turn it around
Time again to turn it around
Turn around it’s time we turn
It’s a turn around turn around time

Oh baby it’s a turn around time
It’s a turn around time
Now’s your turn
Let your passions burn
It’s a turn around turn around time!
