Tom Tipton Sings The Anthem

Tom Tipton, inspirational music artist from Watchfire Music.Yeah, it’s true, and I’m bustin’ my buttons with pride over our very own Watchfire Music artist Tom Tipton’s performance just this last weekend.  He sang the Star-Spangled Banner at the Minnesota Vikings/Dallas Cowboys playoff game in Minnesota before 70,000 people and knocked ‘em dead.

Tom’s 76 years young and still got the voice to fill a stadium – The Metrodome, in fact.

I spoke to Tom yesterday and he had not come down from his lofty heights just yet.  He raved about the day.  It seems that they gave him and his family and friends a catered suite at the stadium and all the trappings while they all watched the hometown Vikings beat the Cowboys and advance to the NFC championship against the New Orleans Saints.

Just one more great Inspirational story in the life of this man who grew up shining shoes outside the White House front gate in Washington D.C.

Specially requested by Minnesota governor, Tim Pawlenty, Tom just naturally complied, warmed up the pipes and did what he does best.

Knowing what he was about to do, I woke up last Sunday morning pretty late, in fact just before game time, and held my own prayer session in support of this endeavor.  Was I nervous?  Not really.  I know Tom and I know how he can step up to the moment at any age.  When I asked him if he was nervous, he answered, “You bet!  But I just went ahead and did what I do.”

Like I said… another Inspirational story in the life of this most amazing man.
